Day 31

Is one more day till Bologna and have just read the greatest book called Skinny Bitch. It's not THAT great its actually by ranty Americans who want to convert you into not eating meat because it's mean to cows and stuff. They say that before cattle are killed they are feeling grief and rage so, to quote them, when you eat meat you are ‘eating their grief and rage’ um…ok….. clearly no solid basis or foundation in fact but doesn’t matter coz they had me at the title. Also you can’t eat dairy because something about a conspiracy with the US government.

But WHAT if I just tried to be a vegan just for a bit. Admittedly I have despised and judged vegetarians for most of my life, but what if they are right and the weight just FALLS off me when I stop eating meat and or diary? Or what if suddenly I felt light and full of energy and ENJOYED exercise and it changes my life like the people that write self help books. So, when I get back from Bologna that’s all I’m going to have. I’m just going to be a Vegan. But not for two very nice dinner dates I have in August one at Le Caprice. I’ll be a meat eater then. Yes I will.

I had a bagel and coffee for breakfast and a super food salad for lunch. Jake was coming down so I had to rush home to have a meal on the table. I’m kidding. I told him I would meet him at the pub and we would have a liquid dinner of beer.

However, I got talking to Work Dario in the afternoon and he told me about this beautiful dinner that he had at a restaurant with clams and monkfish and rocket and cherry tomatoes. I thought how hard can that be to make and I’ll only have a bit and Jake can have lots. Jake is starting to resent me for making him fat. Ah, what you gonna do.

So I whipped that up with rigatoni and a bit of olive oil and chilli and Jake loved it and I took photos of it to text to Work Dario because I was so proud. And I had two wines and a beer.

Tomorrow is last day before Bologna. MUST run many kilometres to make up for weeks slackness. Sally has suggested we both exercise on the Friday morning before we meet at the airports for wine and ‘chos’. IMAGINE the hunger. Also I have just done some research on Bologna. I emailed this to Sally, I said ‘have just researched the history and sights of Bologna’. She emailed back ‘You looked at the food guide huh?’ Anyway turns out their local dish is tortellini and cream sauce. MAN I can't wait. Will eat only fruit and vegetables tomorrow to save up.
